A popular early maturing, heavy cropping variety for cold or slightly heated greenhouses with excellent quality fruit. Recommended for growbag culture with an open growing habit and resistance to TMV, Cladosporium ABC and Fusarium 1 and 2.<br><br>Sow in late winter for heated greenhouse cultivation or early spring for the cold greenhouse. Sow 6mm deep in a good compost. Germination usually take 6-14 days at 24C.Transplant the seedlings when large enough to handle into 8cm pots and grow on in good light and cooler conditions.<br><br> When 15-23cm tall plant out 45cm apart in a prepared greenhouse border soil, growbag, 23cm pots or ring culture. Remove side shoots as they appear and pinch out the growing point when 5-7 trusses have been formed. Feed regularly once the first truss has set.
Early Purple Sprouting Broccoli Seeds
An extremely useful and easy to grow hardy winter vegetable, providing lots of tasty purple heads during late winter/early Spring.<br><br>Sow in a well prepared seed bed in mid to late spring in drills 1cm deep spaced 30cm apart. When the seedlings have four or five leaves transplant to their final quarters 75 x 75cm apart. They will grow in most soils but must be planted firmly.<br><br>Water well until they become established and harvest in late winter/early spring by snapping off the flowering shoots before the flowers open. Don't remove the large leaves as these will protect the next batch of shoots.
Mustard Seeds
A delicious salad and sandwich ingredient which takes up little space and a very small amount of time to grow. Children find it fascinating to watch it grow as in only a few days it produces healthy and nutritious food.<br><br>You can grow Mustard and Cress by sowing this packet and a packet of Thompson & Morgan's Cress (available to purchase separately on LS3169D) in the same or separate containers. Sow the cress 3 days before the mustard so they will be ready at the same time. Mustard can be grown in trays of compost or on the surface of pads of cotton wool or flannel.<br><br> Place the growing medium in a small container or saucer and moisten well, then spread the seed thickly over the surface. Place in a polythene bag and leave in a warm place. Keep the seeds dark until after germination and then move to a warm well lit spot ensuring that the medium stays moist. They are ready to cut in about 8-11 days after sowing.
Lettuce Arctic King Seeds
A fine lettuce known for its exceptional cold resistance and bred solely for autumn sowings. It is a large lettuce, light green in colour, with tasty, crinkled leaves.<br>Sow thinly in late summer and autumn 6mm deep in drills 23-30cm apart.<br><br> A moist well drained soil which has had plenty of compost during the previous autumn is best. In very hot weather it is best to water the soil before sowing.
Onion (Show) Ailsa Craig Seeds
A splendid exhibition variety of golden merit producing large globe shaped onions with a rich, golden straw coloured skin.<br><br> As well as being a super show variety, it is also one of the best varieties for general cultivation producing large onions with an excellent mild flavour. Sow during mid-late winter in a good seed compost, just covering the seed with compost.<br><br>Germination takes 14-21 days at 19-21C. Transplant seedlings when 36mm high into 9cm pots, making sure the tiny bulb is not covered. When well rooted move to a cold frame and plant out in early spring at 38cm apart in a sunny spot in a rich fertile soil.<br><br> As the leaves start to yellow bend over the tops, leave 14 days then lift and store when thoroughly ripened.
Spring Cabbage Seeds
This superb cabbage is a reliable favorite with gardeners as it forms tender, flavoursome hearts without bolting (running to seed with resulting complete loss of crop) which often plagues autumn sown cabbage.<br><br>Sow outdoors in a well prepared seed bed in spring for autumn cabbages or summer for spring cabbages. Sow thinly 12mm deep in rows 23cm apart in well watered and good draining soil.<br><br>Transplant at the 5-6 leaf stage allowing a minimum of 25x38cm between plants. The soil should be firm and contain plenty of well rotted compost etc, preferably from a previous crop, it should also be well limed.
Spinach Perpetual Seeds
Succulent, prolific and very hardy, this variety of spinach is suitable for autumn and winter crops too.Sow in March to June outdoors or September to October indoors very thinly in ordinary garden soil in drills 3cm deep in rows 30cm apart.<br><br>As the seedlings grow, gradually thin out to 23cm apart. The thinnings can be trimmed of their roots and cooked.<br><br>Water freely through the season and harvest by picking a few leaves, snapping them off close to the ground.
Tomato Sungold F1 Hybrid Seeds
An excellent new tomato for glasshouse or outdoor culture to provide lots of deliciously different fruit for salads. These attractive golden orange fruit are irresistible with a sweet flavour all their own.<br><br>Sungold crops well and has resistance to Tobacco Mosaic Virus and Fusarium to ensure healthy plants. For greenhouse culture sow late winter to early spring 1.5mm deep. Germination usually takes 6-14 days at 24-27C.<br><br>Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm pots and later plant out into growbags, pots etc. 45-60cm apart. For outside growing, sow early spring and grow as above.<br><br> When 20cm tall gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions and plant out 38-45cm apart 75cm between rows in a warm sheltered sunny spot in moist, fertile well drained soil.<br><br>Remove side shoots as they appear and restrict the plant to one main stem. Outdoor plants remove growing tip late summer to hasten ripening.
Onion Red Baron F1 Hybrid Seeds
A mid to late maturing variety with flattish-round bulbs of a beautiful dark red colour. An excellent cropper producing attractive, firm well flavoured bulbs which keep well and are perfect for salads and roasting.<br><br>Sow from March to April in a firm, well drained soil in full sun. Sow thinly when the soil surface is dry and workable, 1cm deep in drills 30cm apart after raking to a fine tilth.<br><br>When large enough to handle thin to 5cm and then 10cm apart. As the leaves start to yellow, bend over the tops, leave for 14 days or so then lift and store when thoroughly ripened.
Lettuce Webbs Wonderful Seeds
Still the premier garden lettuce in most people's vegetable patch, this variety has large, wrinkled leaves with a big tight centre of crisp, white leaves. It is outstanding whether the summer is wet or dry and always slow to run to seed. Sow thinly from spring to mid summer 6mm deep in drills 38cm apart.<br><br> A moist, well drained soil which has had plenty of compost during the previous autumn is best. In very hot weather it is best to water the soil before sowing and to make sowings during the early afternoon.<br><br>Thin out gradually to 30cm apart and harvest when the head feels firm when gently pressed.

This variety of seed will produce very white, dwarf cauliflowers with large, tight heads. Useful for frame culture and successional sowings year after year.
Autumn King Improved Carrot Seeds

Detroit 2 Crimson Globe Beetroot Seeds
This improved strain is a quality variety with rich maroon colouring and excellent flavour, the beets are also extremely uniform and of good size. Sow from spring to early summer very thinly in drills 3cm deep in rows 30cm apart.<br><br>When the seedlings are large enough to handle thin them out gradually to 10cm apart. The later thinnings will be large enough to use in a salad. Pull the beetroot when the roots are roughly a couple of centimetres in diameter or larger.<br><br>In mid autumn lift the remaining roots, twist off the tops and use or store.

Kale Dwarf Green Curled Seeds
This curly kale is a very reliable winter hardy which greens at a time when fresh and nutritious vegetables can be in short supply. Reliable to grow in most UK soils, the seeds should be sown from April to early June provided the soil is rich and well drained.<br><br>Sow thinly in a well prepared seedbed, 12mm deep in drills 23cm apart. Transplant when large enough to handle to 50cm apart.<br><br>Pick fresh young leaves throughout winter and spring and leave older leaves for when you want more kick from the flavour.
